In the first section of this show Coenie and his Band (Jaconell Mouton: musical director and piano, David Klassen: percussion, and Mauritz Lotz: guitars, will perform a choice selection of his work including compositions from his latest album EMOJI. This will also include some of his new songs which will be heard for the first time.
The second section of the program will consist of the “Karoo Suite”, a musical and text work by Coenie de Villiers and Deon Meyer (famous author) which debuted this year at the KKNK. This will be the main focus of the program. Coenie and Band will make music en Deon Meyer will be on stage with gripping stories from his pen.
The Karoo Suite consists of four movements where Deon recalls aspects of the Karoo: the people, the landscape, the laughter and pain. He is a world-class photographer and the Suite is illustrated by breathtaking photos of the Karoo landscape. The last movement (the Karoo Symphony) contains a cycle of photo’s enhancing the music and text.
This production received huge acclaim from two packed audiences at the Civic Centre in Oudtshoorn (1350 tickets sold!)
