Karin Hougaard has been residing in the United States since 2008 and this is the reason why her South African supporters only get to see her in concert every now and again. For one afternoon Hougaard brings her production called “GREPE” (roughly translated at “Extracts” or “Selection”) to Atterbury theatre sharing where she stands today, as artist and as person. The production includes old hits like “Bly” and “Kruietuin”, but also introduces some of her newer work. Karin will perform some songs she co-wrote with Dutch super star Herman van Veen as well as interpretations of a Shakespeare sonnet or two translated into Afrikaans by the late Anna Neethling-Pohl. Karin Hougaard’s performance is intimate, dynamic, spontaneous, and literary. For this voice and text driven show the brilliant Jaconell Mouton accompanies Karin on keys. Directed by Marí Borstlap.
