Accomplished classical pianist, Willem de Beer will soon be embarking on a new adventure; a Master’s degree in the USA. Willem’s flight departs in early August but for one night only, Willem will be joined on stage by some of his closest friends, to perform for one last time. Though Willem regards them as friends, these musicians are well-known in their own right with famous concert pianists Dr Bryan Wallick and Prof Wessel van Wyk, clarinettist Lizet Smith, soprano Melissa Gerber, baritone Lourens de Jager, trumpeter Richard Kingon and singer/songwriter Yolandi joining Willem on stage. The whole evening will be laced together with the linguistic talents of Simon Philips as master of ceremonies.
Through this concert, Willem hopes to both honour all the people who have greatly impacted his life, and share one last night on stage with them before he sets off on this new journey. The programme for the evening promises a fragrant potpourri of classical hits, lesser known works, and the odd familiar favourite pop tune. Popular performers’ music such as Louis Armstrong and Benny Andersson will be interspersed between the classical masters Schubert, Mozart, Czerny and Rachmaninoff.
Please join us for this very unique farewell variety concert showcasing some of the best talent Pretoria, and South Africa, has to offer.
